ArtCore DIY artist markets, Newtown

Last night (September 15th), I had the pleasure of being involved in a Newtown guerrilla style art market set up by Chris Lego as part of the Sydney Fringe. ArtCore was an underground (well under the Dendy at least) pop-up festival with over 30 local artists showing off their skills and fine art pieces, to the delight and amazement of at least a thousand art lovers during the evening.
Artists such as Catriona Secker, Rebecca Murphy, Andrew Ensor, Ears, Joe Wilson, Chris Lego, VectorPunk, Claire Nakazawa and Sol contributed their visual wares and good vibes to the space, which, with its security grills and many painted tags proved a perfect street style venue for DIY artists to do their thing.

The amazing Paul Mac was in attendance to present three lucky art lovers with an enviable assortment of art pieces donated by the participating artists, and much fun, chess and music was had by all, thanks in part to the DJs, Gonzo and Franco.

Tree of Life poster, printed by Degree, this seems to be another of those special images where it makes you look twice before you realise just how pretty it really is, lithograph is one of my favourite prints.

I don’t tend to reblog too much (I’m old and don’t get you kids and yer damg nab tumblrs and google plusers) but I like Ira Glass and this is some GOOD ADVICE.

Keep on fighting the good fight!
I’ve blogged this before but I think it’s something that bears remembering in the face of crushingly good art. At times you’ll think your stuff is rubbish. Possibly, it is rubbish. But it’ll never not be rubbish if all you do is sit around and complain about it.
So keep at it guys, love y’all.
Ira Glass speaks the truth.
been feeling so shitty about art lately (lol what else is new) but this little golden chunk of advice is so invaluable and correct. Love it. Take it to heart
